Betting on the Denver Broncos (2-0)
The Buffalo Bills won’t pose a better threat to Denver than the Chargers or Cowboys. For that matter, though, the Broncos are going to be on the road for the first time this season. So that’s really the lone ace up the Bills sleeve in this one. They’ll have the ‘Bills Mafia’ jumping through tables before the game. How that will help them on the field, we’re not quite sure, but let’s try and make sense of it anyway.
It won’t help them.
Now that we got that out of the way, the Broncos are riding a nice hot streak and it’s thanks in large part to the supreme play of quarterback Trevor Siemian. He’s tossed a league leading six touchdowns through two games and has averaged 7.5 yards per attempt, which is good enough for ninth in the NFL among quarterbacks. A nice compliment to him at the helm has been the play of C.J. Anderson as well. He is second in the league with 199 yards and also has one touchdown to his name.
The Denver defense has also been stellar. They shut down the Cowboys electric offense last week without surrendering a touchdown (or even 10 yards) to Ezekiel Elliott. They’ve been hot and should remain dangerous this weekend in a pretty lopsided matchup.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (1-1)
The Buffalo Bills are in a bit of trouble. Sure, they can beat the Broncos, but they’ll need all facets firing to do so. This will have to be a Super Bowl-like effort out of the Bills (let’s not talk 90’s Super Bowls – you get the idea) to walk away with a winning record. Tyrod Taylor did not look like his usual self last week in Carolina not even throwing or rushing for a touchdown in a 9-3 sleeper of a loss. The Bills lone win came from beating the unanimously decided ‘worst team in the league’, the New York Jets two weeks ago.
Don’t expect the Bills to climb the AFC East standings any time soon and also don’t expect them to escape this game with a shocking upset. Again, though, if they can put it all together in one giant effort, they’ll stand a chance. Entering this game, though, both Marcell Dareus and LeSean McCoy have health concerns. The defensive tackle Dareus left last Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable. McCoy, meanwhile, isn’t listed on the injury report but came off it late the week before and only posted 43 yards on 18 touches against the Panthers. We shouldn’t speculate, but it was very un-Shady-like.
Writer’s Prediction
Denver (-160) dominates the Bills 23-9.
