Kansas City Chiefs (+340) vs. New England Patriots (-430)

Final Score: 42-27 Kansas City
The Chiefs stunned the Patriots, their hometown crowd and bettors everywhere with a major upset on the opening night of the 2017-18 NFL season. Kareem Hunt did a superb job filling for the injured Spencer Ware posting three touchdowns in the effort, while wideout Tyreek Hill pitched in one touchdown of his own and 133-yards receiving. The red hot Chiefs will now head home to host the Eagles in Week 2.
New York Jets (+315) vs. Buffalo Bills (-385)
Spread: BUF -8
Final Score: 21-12 Buffalo
Biting your fingernails was common practice on Sunday as the Bills narrowly beat the spread. Tyrod Taylor threw two touchdowns, while Mike Tolbert ran one in in the winning effort. Nobody expected much out of the Jets, so this wasn’t a surprise by any means. The Jets will now head to Oakland, while the Bills move on to Carolina.
Atlanta Falcons (-255) vs. Chicago Bears (+215)
Spread: ATL -6.5
Final Score: 23-17 Atlanta
The Bears embarrassingly could not catch a football in the final minute while playing first, second, third and fourth down in the Carolina red zone. Had they been able to, they would’ve won the game; or at least set up a chance for the winning PAT. What they did do, though, was spoil the hopes and dreams of those betting the spread. Atlanta looked flat at times and like they were still hurting from the preseason. They did not look like a Super Bowl runner up, but then again, it’s only Week 2. The Falcons now host Green Bay on Sunday Night Football, while the Bears head to Tampa Bay for a date with the Bucs.
Baltimore Ravens (+130) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (-150)
Spread: CIN -3
Final Score: 20-0 Baltimore
Nobody expected a blowout in this one, but as far as upsets go, this one was pretty weak. With only a 3.0 point spread, there wasn’t really an upset on the line, mind you, yet the Ravens destroyed the Bengals in front of their home crowd which has to be worth something. Andy Dalton turned the ball over four times and was shutout in his regular season opener. The fans at Paul Brown were silenced. It was a beautiful thing if you’re a Ravens fan, even though the loss of Danny Woodhead will sting for a little while. Cincy hosts the Houston Texans next on Thursday Night Football, while the Ravens host Cleveland on Sunday.
Cleveland Browns (+340) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-430)
Spread: PIT -9
Final Score: 21-18 Pittsburgh
This was a win, but not a triumph for the Steelers. Heavily favored entering this game, the Browns would not go quietly into the night (or day). DeShone Kizer surprised the masses throwing a touchdown and running for another. The Browns offensive line looked a lot stronger than the 2016 rendition and the team actually made some progress with a narrow loss to their division rival. The Steelers will improve hands down. The Browns should also get stronger in a few weeks as well when first overall draft pick Myles Garrett returns from injury. The Steelers will now host Minnesota, while the Browns stay on the road and head to Baltimore.
Arizona Cardinals (-130) vs. Detroit Lions (+110)
Spread: ARZ -2
Final Score: 35-23 Detroit
This wasn’t a massive upset as much as it was a wake up call for Arizona. Everyone was expecting a bounce back season from the Cardinals and they’re definitely not off to the hottest start. The Lions deserve quite a bit of credit considering they were trailing 10-0 after the first quarter. Matthew Stafford ignited the offence with four touchdowns, including two to rookie Kenny Golladay. The Lions will take on the Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 2, while the Cards travel to Indianapolis to take on the weakened Colts.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+185) vs. Houston Texans (-225)
Spread: HOU -5.5
Final Score: 29-7 Jacksonville
The Jags looked like a pretty complete team and a lot of that credit has to go to their defence, who registered 8 sacks and one pick in this game. Leo Fournette was also excellent in his debut posting 100-yards and a touchdown on the ground. Tom Savage’s life as a starter was over after the first half for Houston. He was subbed out for rookie Deshaun Watson, who has already also been named the starter for Week 2. Next up, the Jags host Tennessee, while the Texans head to Cincy for the Thursday nighter.
Oakland Raiders (+140) vs. Tennessee Titans (-160)
Spread: TEN -2.5
Final Score: 26-16 Oakland
Marshawn Lynch’s Raider tenure is off to great start. The Oakland-born back posted 76-yards on 18 carries, while Derek Carr threw a pair of touchdowns in the win. The Raiders entered this season with a bone to pick after losing their quality 2016 campaign in the dying weeks, thanks to a Derek Carr injury. They will be deadly this season and showed they had the depth to compete on Sunday. Next up for the silver and black is a home date with the Jets, while the Titans head to Jacksonville.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins
Spread: PHI -1
Final Score: 30-17 Philadelphia
You like that!? Kirk Cousins and the Redskins are off to a slow start. Rob Kelley looked sluggish out of the backfield (as expected) and their QB was a turnover machine. On the other side of the ball, Carson Wentz threw 39 passes and a pair of touchdowns, while their weak ground game (also as expected) pitched in 58-yards between four players. This game wasn’t your typical barn burner and both teams looked destined to battle it out for third in the division. The Eagles will now face the red hot Chiefs in KC, while the Skins will take on the 1-0 Rams in LA.
Indianapolis Colts (+175) vs. Los Angeles Rams (-210)
Spread: LAR -4.5
Final Score: 46-9 Los Angeles
This was a blowout across the board. The Colts are without Andrew Luck for at least a month and it’s looking like it’s going to be a very long September for the white and blue. Chuck Pagan looked stunned every time the camera panned over. It’s not an easy thing making Jared Goff look like the next Peyton Manning, but the Colts found a way. The LA Rams will host the 0-1 Redskins in Week 2, while the Colts will challenge the struggling Cardinals.
Seattle Seahawks (+140) vs. Green Bay Packers (-160)
Spread: GB -3
Final Score: Green Bay 17-9
This game was a snooze fest posting a measly 3-0 scoreboard at the half. However, in the third the Packers righted the ship and got moving. Ty Montgomery found his legs and eventually the end zone, while Aaron Rodgers connected with Jordy Nelson for his lone touchdown. He also posted 311-yards and ran the ball for another 21 in the win. The heavily heralded Seahawks D only mustered two sacks and one pick in the loss. They’ll need to pick up the pieces for Week 2 as they take on a the San Francisco 49ers, while the Pack will head to Atlanta for Sunday Night Football.
Carolina Panthers (-200) vs. San Francisco 49ers (+170)
Spread: CAR -4.5
Final Score: 23-3 Carolina
Would it be wrong to say this one went as expected? The 49ers didn’t improve their offence at all this offseason and brought in Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback. Really? Hoyer? That’s your move? Yep. That was pretty much it. Carolina took full advantage by picking Hoyer, holding him to under 200-yards and allowing only 51-yards on the ground. They could be a decent sleeper pick this season in a strong NFC South. The cats will host Buffalo next, while the Niners host Seattle in Week 2.
New York Giants (+170) vs. Dallas Cowboys (-200)
Spread: DAL -4
Final Score: 19-3 Dallas
The Giants did not look like a divisional or even wild card contender in this game. In fact, after an action packed Sunday, this night game was enough to make you go to bed early. The Cowboys D, led by Jaylon Smith, were tremendous. So let’s not take anything away from them, but Eli Manning was brutal to say the least. Without Odell Beckham Jr, his back was against the wall, but he only connected with Brandon Marshall once for a few yards with the game out of reach and was afraid to throw the ball deep. The Cowboys will keep their train going against Denver next week, while the Giants will host Detroit on Monday Night Football.
New Orleans Saints (+135) vs. Minnesota Vikings (-155)

Adrian Peterson makes his illustrious return to Minnesota to battle the Vikes in this season’s first rendition of Monday Night Football. The Saints come in as underdogs, but you’d have to be pretty naive to ever count out Drew Brees.

This could be the game of the week to be honest. With Trevor Simian in at quarterback, these two teams are fairly even on paper. The Los Angeles Chargers era kicks off in the final game of the first week of play. The Chargers will need a big performance from their run game with first round draft pick Mike Williams still on the shelf. The team will enjoy the return of Keenan Allen, while Denver will keep an eye on their rookies WR Carols Henderson and TE Jake Butt.
