TV Broadcast: CBS

Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-3)

Point Spread: (-7.5)

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had an up and down season, and not many games have been easy at this point of the season, but they still come into this game with a 6-3 record and are in in the drivers seat to make the playoffs, as long as they continue to play well. In their last game the Chargers, and although they made a kick in overtime to win 20-17, it seemed like they were trying to find as many ways to lose as they could in the 4th quarter before finally winning the game.

The strength of this team is no question on the defensive side of the ball. Coming into this game they are only giving up 14.9 points per game which is 1st in the NFL. Their secondary is the second coming of the legion of boom giving up only 165 yards per game through the air which is also 1st. It’s a good thing that the Jaguars have a really good defensive team, because although the Jaguars do put up a lot of points, the Jaguars offense isn’t actually that good, especially through the air.

Coming into this game they are averaging 207.8 yards per game through the air which is 22nd in the NFL. On the ground though is where the strength of the offense is. They are currently rushing 163 yards per game which is 1st in the NFL, and a lot of that has to do with Leonard Fournette who has had a nice season, but really struggled in the last game against the Chargers.

Against the Chargers he had 17 attempts for only 33 yards. The Browns are a good team against the run, so he is going to have his work cut out for him again this week.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (0-9)

Point Spread: (+7.5)

On the other side of this match up is the Cleveland Browns who come into this game still looking for their first win of the season. They have been in a couple of the games the last month, but then they make crucial mistakes that seem to cost them, and their opponent pulls away in the end.

Against the Lions in their last game the Browns actually got off to a 10-0 lead, but they made the mistakes that bad teams make, and they ended up losing 38-24. For the Browns their strength is on the defensive side of the ball.

Although they are giving up 26.7 points per game, a lot of that has to do with where the offense is giving the opponents the ball, rather than how good their defense has actually been playing. In this game the offense is going to need to be good, and not turn the ball over. They can’t make life even that much harder on their defense.

Writer’s Prediction:

The Cleveland Browns have been playing better as of late, and I think that will continue in this game. I think the Jaguars will pull it out in the end, but the Browns will cover the spread in a low scoring game. Pick: Browns (+7.5)
