Betting on the LA Clippers (39-34)
There’s still hope for the Clippers to make it to the postseason, and this game against a struggling
Suns squad could just be what the doctor ordered to help LA improve its playoff chances. The Clippers have won all their past three games against the Suns dating back to October. They have also covered the spread in all of those meetings, suggesting that they have mastered the craft of pummeling Phoenix, which owns the worst defense in the league today. The Suns are allowing 113.9 points per game, but Los Angeles have scored a lot more than that against them, as the Clippers have averaged 122.0 points this season against Jay Triano’s team. Lou Williams has put up 12.7 points on 49 percent shooting in those meetings. He had 35 points off the bench in a 128-117 win in Phoenix on Feb. 23, while Harris produced 30 points of his own.
Betting on the Phoenix Suns (19-55)
The Suns are limping towards the end of the season. If they could only quit right now, they probably would, as they have gone winless in their last 12 outings. That stretch includes a 102-94 home loss to the Boston Celtics Monday night. Other than Devin Booker, there are barely any other bright spots in the Suns’ roster. The problem for the Suns is that Booker is being held out because of, depending on which you will believe in, a hand injury or because of tanking purposes, The Suns have no good reason to risk playing Booker and TJ Warren (knee), who both sat out the Boston game. If that will be the case again this Wednesday against the Clippers, then Suns fan will have to content themselves getting a heavy does of Josh Jackson and Tyler Ulis. Jackson is averaging 19.3 points in the last three games, while Ulis is making 14.7 points and 6.3 assists over that same span.
Writer’s Prediction:
LA makes it 4-0 vs. Phoenix this season with a 121-107 win.
