Betting on the Los Angeles Rams

Prepare to see a dose of Sean Mannion, Brandon Allen, and Luis Perez under center for the Rams’ preseason opener. Jared Goff is likely going to be a spectator for this game, as the Rams have no urgent need to put their clear regular season starter on the field in an exhibition match. The Rams’ defense was a big key to their success last season, and it will be just as interesting to watch how their stop unit takes full form this offseason with the addition of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. Meanwhile, the starters for the outside linebacker slots remain up in the air, so expect the likes of Samson Ebukam, Matt Longacre, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Justin Lawler, Trevon Young and Ejuan Price to continue fighting for the right to inherit the roles vacated by Connor Barwin and Robert Quinn in the preseason. The Rams are 2-2 ATS in their last four preseason games.

Betting on the Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens’ preseason campaign kicked off on a positive note, as they took down Chicago last week in a low-scoring game that ended with Baltimore taking a 17-16 victory. AS expected. Joe Flacco was not spotted on the field. Instead, it was the trio of Robert Griffin III, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Woodrum, who rotated under center. Griffin started the game and came up with 58 passing yards on 7-for-11 passing with a touchdown and an interception. Griffin wants to prove he’s still a capable quarterback. Jackson, meanwhile, had a decent outing with 33 passing yards on 4 of 10 passing and 25 rushing yards. Baltimore’s pass protection was pathetic though as the offensive line allowed eight sacks. Keeping their quarterbacks on their feet will be a big challenge this Thursday against a Rams team that obviously puts a premium on defense. The Ravens, however, are 9-1 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 preseason outings. They take these games seriously.

Writer’s Prediction

Baltimore wins, 24-21.
