Matthew Stafford passed for 187 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions in the loss to the 49ers, but that was obviously not enough against the 49ers, who had a shiny new weapon in the form of Christian McCaffrey. But the Rams’ defense could have it easier in Week 9 against the Buccaneers, who have averaged just 14.3 points in their last three outings. It was not that long ago when the Carolina Panthers held Tom Brady and the Bucs down to just three points.
The Rams are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games after suffering a double-digit loss at home.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.0)
Regular Season Record: 3-5
There is no way but up for the Buccaneers after failing to snap their skid in the Baltimore game. Tom Brady mustered 325 passing yards with a touchdown and zero interceptions in that game while also going 26/44 on his pass attempts. The Rams’ defense isn’t as sturdy as it looks on paper, so Brady can still look forward to having a sound performance on Sunday. In fact, Los Angeles is just 18th overall with 22.4 points per game. Tampa Bay can also feed off the Rams’ turnover-prone ways. Los Angeles is 29th in the league with 1.9 giveaways per game.
The Buccaneers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against teams with a losing record on the road.
