Baltimore Ravens vs Miami Dolphins Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Preseason – August 25 2018

The Baltimore Ravens are treating preseason games way more seriously than most teams, as evidenced by their 10-game win streak during August games. Will they be able to extend that winning binge this Saturday against Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins, who are +900 to win the AFC East? Speaking of which, the Ravens are +375 to rule the AFC North in the NFL Futures.

Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (3-0 Preseason Record)

The Ravens have now learned that cornerback Jimmy Smith will be suspended for the first four games of the upcoming regular season, so a lot of their attention ion this Saturday’s showdown with the Colts will be on sorting out the position. Smith was bound to be the team’s starter prior to the suspension, but now, Tavon Young, rookie Anthony Averett are likely the top two choices to be Smith’s placeholder. With that, expect that two to be laser focused in trying to cover Miami receivers. On offense, Joe Flacco should see more minutes in the dress rehearsal after going 7 of 9 for 72 yards and a touchdown without an interception in last week’s close 20-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts.  Meanwhile, the battle for the backup quarterback role will continue between rookie Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III, who’s played well in the preseason.

The Ravens 10-0 SU and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 preseason games.

Betting on the Miami Dolphins (0-2 Preseason Record)

It’s easy to see what went wrong for the Dolphins in their 27-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers last week. Their defense was ghastly. They allowed the Panthers to rack up a dizzying total of 405 yards, including 226 on the ground. Miami has to patch the gaps on their Swiss cheese defense against the run, as the Ravens just had 139 rushing yards against the Colts. With Robert Griffin III and Lamar Jackson offering Baltimore additional options to take the ball and run with it, the Dolphins may look like sitting ducks again. Miami also has to figure out its offense, as they are having a hard time getting on the same page, as evidenced by the eight penalties they committed in the Carolina game. Nevertheless, Ryan Tannehill looked sharp and ready to go after a long absence due to a knee injury, as he passed for 100 yards on 14 of 17 passes against the Panthers.

The over is 6-0 in Miami’s last six games.

Writer’s Prediction

Baltimore wins, 23-17.
