Regular Season Record: 7-9
The Jets suffered a 23-6 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17. Not even the return of Mike White could save them, as the quarterback went just 23/46 for 240 yards and zero touchdowns with two interceptions. He doesn’t seem to be in 100% form in the loss to Seattle due to a rib issue, but he should be better in Week 18 given the additional rest. The Jets beat Miami in Week 5 at home, 40-17 with New York relying on its ground attack that produced 135 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Michael Carter rushed for two touchdowns for the Jets in that game. Breece Hall rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries versus the Dolphins, though, he won’t be there on Sunday as he is on injured reserve.
The Jets are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games after failing to cover in the previous outing.
Betting on the Miami Dolphins (+0.0)
Regular Season Record: 8-8
Unlike the Jets, Miami is still in playoff contention heading into Week 18, so expect the Dolphins to go all out on Sunday. However, they might not have Tua Tagovailoa in the rematch against the Jets as the quarterback is still dealing with a concussion. It’s going to be either Teddy Bridgewater or Skylar Thompson as Miami’s starter under center in this upcoming game. Bridgewater is also dealing with an injury (finger) so it could go down to Thompson, who passed for 166 yards and zero touchdowns with an interception on 19/33 pass completions in the first meeting with the Jets. Miami is 10th in the NFL with 24.1 points per game and sixth with 368.4 total yards per outing.
The Dolphins are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games versus AFC East division teams.
Writer’s Prediction
The Dolphins win, 24-21.
