New England Patriots vs New York Giants Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Preseason – August 30, 2018

For the third week in a row, the New England Patriots will go up against a fellow rival in the Super Bowl, as Bill Belichick and his team will look to ruin the night of the New York Giants in East Rutherford this coming Thursday. The Giants, however, know how it’s like to spoil the party for the Pats.

In the NFL Future, the Patriot have the shortest odds to win Super Bowl 53 with a price of +700. The Giants, on the other hand, are long shots to do it with odds of +3,500.

Betting on the New England Patriots (2-1 Preseason Record)

After getting a mini revenge for their Super Bowl 52 loss with a 37-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the preseason, the Pats got pulled down back to Earth by the Carolina Panthers last week, as Cam Newton and company handed New England with a 25-14 defeat. Perhaps the biggest difference for the Patriots between those two games was the amount of work accomplished by their pass rush. Against the Eagles, they consistently applied pressure on Philly’s quarterbacks, while they didn’t even record a single sack in the Panthers game. Interestingly for New England, the team only used two running backs against the Panthers, with Tom Brady and Brian Hoyer airing the ball a little bit more often in this particular contest But with Brady not expected to suit up opposite the Giants, the Pats’ backfield might have a much heavier workload this coming Thursday.

The Pats are 4-3 SU in their last seven preseason games.

Betting on the New York Giants (2-1 Preseason Record)

Saquon Barkley has been recently shelved by the Giants because of a hamstring issue, but he’s reportedly back practicing with the team. Nevertheless, there’s no urgent reason for the Giants to play and risk Barkley to injury by playing him in a meaningless game against New England. He wasn’t needed by the Giants, though in beating the New York Jets last week, as quarterback Eli Manning and running back Jhurell Pressley teamed up to move the chains for the Giants’ offense. However, it’s the legs of kickers Aldrick Rosas and Marshall Koehn that delivered most of the points for team. Rosas drilled all four of his field goal attempts, while Koehn chipped in one field goal. Hunter Sharp also scored a punt return TD in the first quarter.

The Giants are 3-1 ATS in their last four preseason contests.

Writer’s Prediction
