Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-7.0)
Regular Season Record: 11-1
The Eagles continue their rise, as they reached 11 wins this season with a 35-10 beatdown of the Tennessee Titans last Sunday at home. It’s a victory that stands as yet another testament to how powerful Philly is, notwithstanding its loss to the Washington Commanders a few weeks back. Jalen Hurts is a serious MVP contender, and just having the better quarterback in this upcoming matchup in East Rutherford is already a big advantage for the Eagles against the Giants. So far this season, Hurts has 2,940 passing yards and 20 touchdowns passing with three interceptions. He has also rushed already for over 600 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Defensively, the Eagles have what it takes to shut down Saquon Barkley, the best offensive weapon of the Giants, as evidenced by the fact that they just held Derrick Henry to only 30 rushing yards in Week 13.
The Eagles are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games versus a team with a winning record.
Betting on the New York Giants (+7.0)
Regular Season Record: 7-4-1
The Giants are winless for the third game in a row, but at least they did not pick up a loss in Week 13, instead drawing with the Washington Commanders, 20-20. Daniel Jones passed for 200 yards and a touchdown without an interception on 25/31 completions, while also rushing for 71 yards on 12 carries. Jones is deceptively mobile. He could pick up ample yards on the ground when opposing defenses take their focus away from him. So far this season, Jones has 522 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 91 carries. He is averaging 5.7 yards per carry and is a career 5.8 yards per carry QB. And then there’s New York’s defense which will be heavily tested by Hurts, but seems ready for the challenge after sacking Taylor Heinicke five times in Week 13.
The Giants are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 24-20.
