Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (+4.5)
Regular Season Record: 13-1
As of this writing, it doesn’t look as though the Eagles will have their best player on the field for Saturday’s rematch against Dallas. Jalen Hurts is apparently still dealing with a shoulder issue that has forced him to miss practice Wednesday. It doesn’t seem to be a serious injury, but the Eagles might play it safe and sit the quarterback in Week 16. If Hurts can’t go, it’ll be Gardner Minshew starting for the Eagles, who are averaging 29.4 points per game. Philly doesn’t start and end with Hurts, as the Eagles also still have a lively ground attack that features Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown in a 26-17 home win over the Cowboys back in Week 6.
The Eagles are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games against a team with a winning record.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-4.5)
Regular Season Record: 10-4
The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 40-34 road loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road in Week 15. Dallas had a 17-point lead evaporate in that contest, so the Cowboys have every reason to feel very motivated to score a win against the Eagles. It will be a tremendous plus for Dallas if Hurts will ultimately get ruled out, of course. In any case, the Cowboys’ defense will be ready to pounce. Dallas is seventh in the NFL with just 19.2 points allowed per game and second in defensive sack rate (9.78%). Dallas will also have Dak Prescott this time around. The team did not have Prescott in the first meeting with the Eagles due to the quarterback’s hand injury. Well, Prescott is healthy now and will be leading the Cowboys’ offense that is averaging 28.1 points per game.
The Cowboys are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games versus teams in their division.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 23-22.
