Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Preseason – August 30 2018

The Dallas Cowboys have been a painful team to watch in the preseason, but it’s a good thing that these contests don’t count. The Cowboys, who are 0-3 so far this August, will look to get their first win of the preseason this Thursday versus the Houston Texans.

If you think the Cowboys have what it takes to win the NFC, then you can bet on their +1,400 odds to do it. The Texans have shorter odds of +1,000 to rule their own conference.

Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (0-3 Preseason Record)

Dallas’ offense was limited greatly in last week’s 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at home. But the Cowboys played without the resting quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, a number of key members of their offensive line, so putrid performances like that on offense wasn’t exactly that shocking. That being said, they still should’ve mustered more than three points if only they did a better job of securing the ball. Dallas had a total of eight turnovers against the Cardinals. It hurts the eye of people watching the game seeing Dallas struggle execute on offense.

Quarterbacks Mike White and Cooper Rush combined for zero touchdowns and three interceptions in a complete letdown of a performance by Dallas’ offensive team. They will look to do better in the preseason finale against the Texans, but the team has already made it clear that lie is incredibly tough for them without the first-teamers.

The Cowboys are 2-2 ATS in their last four preseason games.

Betting on the Houston Texans (2-1 Preseason Record)

The Texans lost to the Los Angeles Rams last week, 21-20, but Houston showed how deadly its defense is going to be in the regular season as the team’s fist- team on defense held the Rams scoreless and also recorded an interception off of a pass from LA backup signal-caller Sean Mannion. Mannion did not even managed to complete a single pass on five attempts against Houston’s starters on defense. It’s a small sample size, but everyone knows the potential of a stop unit that features the likes of J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, both of whom are not expected to play this Thursday. Houston quarterback Brandon Weeden will also face his former team in this game. The former Cowboys had 108 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception on 10-of-17 completions against the Rams.

The under is 3-1 in the Texans’ last four August games.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston wins, 24-13.
