The BYU Cougars have put the nation on notice after defeating the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers earlier this month before blowing out the McNeese State Cowboys last Saturday. This week, the Cougars are looking to score another upset victory when they pay Jake Browning and the Washington Huskies a visit. The Cougars are 17-point underdogs. Will they be able to at least cover that spread? Or will the Huskies extend their win streak to four games?

Betting on the BYU Cougars (3-1 Overall / 0-0 Conference)
On a day with plenty of surprises, the Cougars beating FCS McNeese, 30-3, on Saturday was definitely not one. However, it took a full quarter before BYU started getting it together, as they were trailed the Cowboys, 3-0, at the end of the first period before going off for 30 unanswered points the rest of the way. Quarterback Tanner Mangum passed for only 118 yards on 15-of-25 completions with a touchdown and zero interceptions, but his performance was more than enough for BYU to get past McNeese with ease. The Cougars’ backfield, meanwhile, generated 161 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Cougars’ running game played a key role in their upset of No. 6 Wisconsin back in Week 3 when BYU had 191 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 24-21 road victory in Madison. Cougars running back, who had 118 rushing yards against Wisconsin and 57 more against McNeese, leads all Independent players this season with 80.5 rushing yards per game and five rushing scores.
BYU is 5-0 ATS in its last five games away from home.
Betting on the Washington Huskies (3-1 Overall / 2-0 Conference)
For the first three weeks of the season, Washington quarterback Jake Browning’s stock kept on plunging, but the senior turned it around last Saturday, when he passed for 202 passing yards with three touchdowns on 15-of-22 completions to lead the Huskies to a 27-20 home win over the Arizona State Sun Devils. It was the first game of the season in which Browning didn’t get picked, so that’s a nice performance for him to build on heading into a marquee matchup with BYU. The Huskies are hoping they could carry over the stout defense they had in the Arizona State game. Washington held ASU to only 268 total yards and zero passing touchdowns to bring the team’s average to 154.0 passing yards allowed per game – second best in the Pac-12. In addition to that, the Huskies are also 60th in the nation against the run, having limited opponents to 145.0 rushing yards per game. BYU likes to run the ball, so the Huskies will have to show up with a bigger sense of urgency to clog gaps on their defensive line.
Washington is 5-5 ATS in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Washington wins, 31-21.
