Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1)
After a letdown 9-6 loss to the Tennessee Titans in which they were not able to score a touchdown, the Jaguars bounced back and made a return in the win column with a decisive 31-12 win at home over the New York Jets in Week 4. The Jags’ ferocious defense was simply too much for Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, who completed just 17 of 34 passes for only 167 yards and a touchdown. The Jets were also held down to only 34 rushing yards. Through four weeks of the season, the Jaguars have allowed just four touchdowns, the fewest in the NFL. With plenty of playmaking pieces on defense, the Jaguars can look forward to putting the chains on Kansas City’s high-octane offense. The Jags are allowing just 14.0 points, 259.2 total yards, and 164.2 passing yards per game – all of which are the best in the league. They are also giving up just 95.0 rushing yards per contest.
The Jaguars are 3-0 in their last three road games.
Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)
The Chiefs remain undefeated after taking down the Denver Broncos on the road on Monday, 27-23. As usual, quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivered the goods for the Chiefs’ as the second-year man passed for 304 yards and a touchdown while completing 28 of 45 passes. Mahomes now has 14 touchdown passes with no picks thrown yet this season. That he had a great game against Denver’s imposing defense was a nice momentum builder for Mahomes, who’ll face his toughest test yet this weekend in the form of Jacksonville. The big question for the Chiefs is whether their leaky defense can hold off the Jags, though, Jacksonville doesn’t have a great attack. It should make the job of the Chiefs’ stop unit easier if Jags running back Leo Fournette misses the game. Fournette is questionable with a hamstring injury.
The Chiefs, who are tops in the league with 36.2 points per game, are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas City wins, 27-20.
