Betting on the Wisconsin Badgers
(4-1 Overall / 2-0 Conference)
The Badgers took care of business last Saturday, as they lowered the boom on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a 41-24 win at home. The game this coming weekend, however, is going to be the toughest for Wisconsin, as the Wolverines are the first ranked team the Badgers are going to face this season. Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook went 13 of 24 for 163 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions and while those are pedestrian numbers, Wisconsin’s backfield made sure to back up Hornibrook, as the Badgers racked up 370 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Running back Jonathan Taylor had 221 rushing yards and three touchdowns to improve his conference-leading totals to 849 rushing yards and eight rushing scores. Michigan likes to make life hard for opposing backfields, but Taylor should keep his optimism, considering that that Wolverines allowed Maryland to run for 147 yards and two touchdowns last week.
Wisconsin is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games away from Madison.
Betting on the Michigan Wolverines
(5-1 Overall / 3-0 Conference)
Michigan extended its win streak to five games following a decisive 42-21 win over the Maryland Terrapins at home last Saturday. Wolverines signal-caller Shea Patterson had a productive outing against the Terps, passing for 282 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Karan Higdon, meanwhile, complemented Patterson by rushing for 103 yards on 25 carries. Both Patterson and Higdon need to put up at least the same quality of performances against a Wisconsin squad that seems to know how to deal with opposing offenses. Michigan is averaging 38.2 points per game this season, which is a big improvement from their average of just 25.2 points per contest in 2017. What’s the same is the Wolverines’ stout defense that is giving up only 15.8 points per game. The 230.5 total yards they surrender per game is currently the fewest in the nation.
Michigan is 5-1 ATS in its last six games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Michigan wins, 31-27.
