Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma State Cowboys Predictions, Picks, Odds and NCAA Football Betting Preview – October 27 2018

The Texas Longhorns (+5000 to win the College Football Championship) continue to make their mark this season, as they just scored another victory last week. That said, they have an injury to one of their most important players to deal with heading into this weekends showdown with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who are looking to prevent a three-game skid. Will the Longhorns extend their win streak? Or will the Cowboys score a giant upset win in Stillwater?

Betting on the Texas Longhorns (6-1 Overall / 4-0 Conference)

The Longhorns stretched their win streak to six games after taking down the Baylor Bears at home on Saturday, 23-17. The win, however, came at a significant cost for the Longhorns as they saw their starting quarterback, Sam Ehlinger, leave the game prematurely after sustaining a shoulder injury. With Ehlinger taken out of the contest, backup quarterback Shane Buechele stepped in and went 20-of-34 for 184 passing yards to go with a touchdown and an interception. Running back Keaontay Ingram also helped move the chains for the Longhorns with 110 rushing yards on 19 carries. If Ehlinger needs to miss some time to heal from his injury, Ingram and the Longhorns’ backfield should see an uptick in usage against the Cowboys. The Longhorns are averaging 159.6 rushing yards per game. Ehlinger, however, is reportedly starting to throw again, so that’s a good sign with regards to his availability this weekend.

The under is 9-0 in Texas’ last nine games away from home.

Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-3 Overall / 1-3 Conference)

Oklahoma State went down last week at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats one the road, 31-12. The Cowboys’ usually high-octane offense fizzled greatly in this game. The Cowboys are 18th in the nation with 36.3 points per game and 24th overall with 453.2 total yards per contest, but only put up 17 points and manufactured just 311 total yards. Oklahoma State quarterback was grounded by the Wildcats’ defense, as he passed for only 184 yards and threw two picks while not completing any touchdown attempts. This letdown offensive performance by Oklahoma State, however, can’t entirely define the team’s capabilities on both ends of the field, especially on the air, as the Cowboys are 22nd in the nation with 290.3 passing yards per contest. Defensively, the Cowboys are a big threat to opposing offensive lines, as they are the runaway leaders in the Big 12 in terms of sacks with 30.0 quarterback takedowns so far this season.

The Cowboys are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in their last three meetings with Texas.

Writer’s Prediction

Oklahoma State wins, 27-23.
