Betting on the New York Giants (4-8)
The Giants are finally showing signs of life. After going 1-7 SU in their first eight games of the season, they went 3-1 SU in their next four outings, which includes a 30-27 upset win at home over the Chicago Bears. Eli Manning is still far from solid form, as he only had 170 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception on only 19-of-35 completions, but he did get plenty of support, especially from wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and running back Saquon Barkley. Beckham threw (yes) for a touchdown and caught another, while Barkley rushed for 125 yards on 24 carries. The Giants know that feeding Barkley the football usually translate to better things on offense, which is why the running back should expect a heavier workload this time around than in their 20-13 loss to the Redskins at home back in Week 8. In that game, he only had 38 rushing yards on a mere 13 touches. The Giants know that to do.
The Giants are 3-2 ATS in their last five games in Washington.
Betting on the Washington Redskins (6-5)
The Redskins are limping to towards the end of the regular season. Already without starting quarterback Alex Smith for the rest of the season because of a leg injury, the Redskins saw backup Colt McCoy fracture his fibula in last Monday’s 28-13 loss road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. McCoy is likely also done for the rest of the regular season, leaving the Redskins with only Mark Sanchez as their option at the quarterback slot, at least as of this writing. Sanchez stepped in for McCoy in the Eagles game and went 13 of 21 with zero touchdowns and an interception because that’s what Mark Sanchez always does. With an unstable quarterback play, the Redskins are expected to ride whatever it is left in the tank of running back Adrian Peterson in this rematch with the Giants. Peterson rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown (including a blazing 90-yard scoring rush) against the Eagles, and he’ll look to make his mark again versus New York. In the first meeting with the Giants, Peterson had 149 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.
The Redskins are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
New York wins, 24-20.
