Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (17-1 Overall / 6-1 Conference)
Michigan leading scorer Ignas Brazdeikis recently talked about wanting to face the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils. However, he must have overlooked the Wisconsin Badgers, the unranked team that handed the Wolverines squad its first loss of the season in a 64-54 win in Madison over the weekend. What’s worse was that Brazdeikis scored zero points in that game. Perhaps it was merely an anomaly for the Wolverines, but in any case, they have a chance to bounce back this Tuesday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers before taking on the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington on Friday. The Wolverines beat Indiana in the first meeting, 74-63, in Ann Arbor back on Jan. 6. In that game, Brazdeikis scored 10 points, while Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole each had 18. Michigan didn’t seem to have much of a problem breaking through Indiana’s defense, as the Wolverines shot 50 percent from the field and only committed three turnovers compared to seven by the Hoosiers.
Michigan is 5-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last five meetings with Indiana.
Betting on the Indiana Hoosiers (12-6 Overall / 3-4 Conference)
Indiana is on a tailspin. As of this writing, the Hoosiers are on a four-game losing streak prior to a date with the Northwestern Wildcats on the road this coming Tuesday. The Hoosiers failed to arrest their skid last Wednesday, when they fell victims to the Purdue Boilermakers on the road, 70-55. One thing Hoosiers can’t afford if they want to turn it around and beat the Wolverines in the upcoming rematch is another dud by guard Romeo Langford. The freshman star shot just 2-for-10 against Purdue and finished with just four points. Against Michigan earlier this month, he had 17 points to go with six rebounds, two assists, and a block in 32 minutes. Meanwhile, senior big man Juwan Morgan is expected to play a vital role once again for Indiana. Morgan pumped out 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss to Michigan. Indiana also hopes that it’s defense clicks. Archie Miller’s team is 39th in the nation with only 65.8 points per game allowed, while also limiting opponents to only 47.2 effective field goal shooting percent.
Indiana is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Michigan wins, 75-71.
