LSU Tigers vs Mississippi State Bulldogs Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – February 6 2019

The LSU Tigers suffered a setback in their chase of the Tennessee Volunteers atop the SEC standings, but they still got a big chance of winning the conference, though, their margin of error just got smaller following a loss over the weekend. The Mississippi State Bulldogs, meanwhile, will be motivated this Wednesday by the opportunity of adding a ranked opponent to their list of victims.

Betting on the LSU Tigers (17-4 Overall / 7-1 Conference)

Whoa. The Tigers saw their lengthy 10-game winning streak come to an end last Saturday, when their comeback bid from 18-point down fell short in a 90-89 home loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. One thing to note here for those looking to lay money on LSU against Mississippi State is the fact that the Tigers are only 1-2 ATS in their last three games following a loss. Despite the Tigers’ ugly shooting in the loss to Arkansas, LSU’s offense is very much capable of going hot. Against the Razorbacks, LSU shot 44.1 percent from the field and went only 5-for-24 from behind the arc. The Tigers managed to keep that game close largely by getting plenty of scoring chances off of rebounds. They had 44 boards to just 20 by Arkansas, though, the Tigers wasted too many possessions by committing a dizzying total of 21 turnovers. They should be fine against the Bulldogs provided they don’t cough up the ball too many times.

LSU is 3-0-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last four road games.

Betting on the Mississippi State Bulldogs (16-5 Overall / 4-4 Conference)

Following an 83-79 road loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Tigers bounded right back on Saturday with an 81-75 takedown of the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford. That makes Mississippi State a .500 team through eight games of conference play, and they could, for the first time in league play go over .500 on Tuesday against LSU at home.  The Bulldogs are 6-5 ATS in 11 games so far this season in which they were the home team. Against Ole Miss, the Bulldogs fed off the energy of Quinndary Weatherspoon and Reggie Perry. Weatherspoon had 27 points in Oxford to go with eight rebounds, two assists, and a block in 35 minutes, while Perry had 21 points. Perry also hauled down 11 rebounds, and that kind of tenacity on the glass will be needed against LSU. As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 78.6 points and 36.8 rebounds per game. Quinndary is the third-leading scorer in the SEC with 17.6 points per game.

Mississippi State is 3-0 ATS in its last three home games against LSU.

Writer’s Prediction

LSU wins, 77-74.
