Vanderbilt Commodores vs Texas A&M Aggies Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – March 13 2019

The Vanderbilt Commodores (+200,000 to win the national title) just had an embarrassing regular season, having gone 0-18 SU in conference play. Odds are stacked against them to win the SEC Tournament, but at least they get a chance to pull off a shocker this coming Wednesday against the Texas A&M Aggies (+200,000), whose only hope to get into the national tournament lies in the SEC tourney.

Betting on the Vanderbilt Commodores (9-22 Overall / 0-18 Conference)

There’s no sugarcoating it, and it has to be said – the Commodores are horrific. They did not win a single game in 18 tries in conference tries. In their most recent outing, the Commodores were crushed by the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, 80-59. The Commodores were out of the game as early as the first half of the showdown with LSU, which had a 15-point lead at the half.  Barely anyone showed signs of life for the Commodores in the LSU game, with only two Vandy players scoring in double digits. Saben Lee, who is Vanderbilt’s leading scorer among its healthy players following the season-ending injury of Darius Garland, put up 16 points, while Yanni Wetzell came off the bench and supplied 11 markers. Wetzell also led the Commodores with 15 points in their 64-57 loss in College Station to the Aggies on Mar. 2, while Simisola Shittu had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Commodores are 3-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last five meetings with Texas A&M.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (13-7 Overall / 6-12 Conference)

They were not as big of a losers as the Commodores in the regular season, but the Aggies are headed into the conference tournament on a losing skid, having dropped their last two games. The Aggies lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks at home on Mar. 5, 71-54 and got defeated by the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road on Mar. 9, 92-81 last Saturday. The Aggies started poorly in the Mississippi State game, as they ended the first half trailing the Bulldogs by 12 points. They had a big 47-point second half, but that production was not enough to pull the Aggies to a victory. The last time the Aggies won was in aforementioned meeting with the Commodores, so they have a psychological advantage over Vanderbilt this coming Wednesday. Savion Flagg enjoyed abusing Vanderbilt’s defense, scoring 22 points on 10-for-21 shooting from the field. He could still be feeling it, as he just scored 23 points with four 3-pointers in the loss to the Bulldogs. Texas A&M will look to control the boards once again versus the Commodores. The Aggies had 45 rebounds to just 36 by Vanderbilt in the first meeting.

Texas A&M is 9-7 against the spread (ATS) this season in games after a loss.

Writer’s Prediction

Texas A&M wins, 70-66.
