Golden State Warriors (57-25 Regular Season)

Something was definitely not right with the Warriors in their Game 6’s 129-121 loss at home to the Clippers. For one, the loss was a big waste of Kevin Durant’s 45-point night. It would have been good for a win against any team for Golden State, but its inability to contain Lou Williams and the Clippers inside game negated everything Durant and the Warriors did on offense. The Warriors shot 44.8 percent from the field and hit 15 3-pointers, but let the Clippers shoot 54.1 percent from the floor and knock down 13 threes. Golden State’s defense also needs to step up, as Williams and Montrezl Harrell have been dominating their Warriors counterparts. The Warriors’ second unit only had 17 points in Game 6 to 57 by the Clippers’ reserves. In any case, the Warriors are hard to beat in back-to-back fashion, and that’s something their bettors will be counting on. Also, the Warriors have lost two home games in this series, a surprising bit of trivia, but they have owned the Clippers at Staples Center.

The Warriors are 9-1 straight up (SU) and 7-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 trips to that arena against the Clippers.

Los Angeles Clippers (48-34 Regular Season)

What’s left to say about Lou Williams? The spitfire guard is a cold bucket-getter. The meaning of his existence is directly tied to his ability to score, and boy did he score in Game 6. Williams delivered the goods for the Clippers, especially when his team needed them the most. He finished with 33 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field with 10 assists in 34 minutes off the bench. As mentioned, his team-up with Harrell confounded Golden State, as Harrell chipped in 24 points and five rebounds. Harrell’s energy is infectious, and he’s turning out to be the Clippers’ version of Draymond Green — minus the ability to pass the ball. The most important thing for the Clippers is one that’s intangible: their never-back-down mentality. This team has never given the impression of quitting. They believe they can beat Golden State, and if they can do that on the road, they definitely can at home this coming Saturday.  Williams leads the Clippers in these playoffs with 24.4 points on an incredible 50.6 percent shooting from the floor.

The over is 4-1 in the Clippers’ last five home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Clippers force Game 7 with a 117-116 win.
