Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NBA Basketball Betting Preview – Western Conference Playoffs Round 2 Game 5 – May 8 2019

The Golden State Warriors are the invincible team that anyone can beat in a game, but not in a seven-game series. But the Houston Rockets seem to be ready and capable of flipping that script, as they are making Golden State sweat bullets in the second round. Will the Warriors recapture the series lead at home in Game 5? Or will the Rockets notch their third win in a row? Going into the game the sportsbook favors the current Champs by 6-points while current NBA playoff series’ prices set the Warriors at -240 (to the Rockets +180) to make it through to the next round.

Houston Rockets (53-29 Regular Season)

The Rockets have shown grit by coming back from a 0-2 series hole to tying things all up at 2-2 following a 112-108 home win over Golden State and on Monday. The formula for success was pretty much the same for the Rockets with the one they used in Game 3: shoot and make a ton of threes and let James Harden run the show. Harden had 38 points on 13-for-29 shooting with six triples. The Rockers went 17-for-50 from deep. They are not going to stop shooting those long-range shots and will have to continue being aggressive on the glass and on defense altogether. No one personified those qualities better in Game 4 for Houston than PJ Tucker, who had 17 points and played fantastic man-to-man defense, finishing with a game-best plus-minus of +11. The Rockets have sunk 26 more 3-pointers than Golden State through four games in the series.

After a win this season, the Rockets are 15-16-1 against the spread (ATS).

Golden State Warriors (57-25 Regular Season)

At some point in the playoffs, Stephen Curry will have to wake up before it’s too late for ho. And the Warriors. The two-time NBA MVP is admittedly not playing well in the series. He’s shot just 12-for-46 from behind the arc. In Game 4, he scored 30 points but was just 4-for-14 from downtown. Once Curry regains his touch, which the Warriors hope he will when they return home for Game 5, the team’s offense will improve across the board. Kevin Durant put the Warriors on his back again, with a 34-point effort on Monday, but it’s growing abundantly clear that he needs Curry and Thompson to get it together. Thompson only had 11 points on 5-for-15 shooting from the field and 1-for-6 from distance.

After a loss this season, the Warriors are 13-15 ATS, covering just 46.4% of the time.

Writer’s Prediction

Warriors win, 121-113.
