Betting on the South Carolina Gamecocks (2-3 Overall / 1-2 Conference)

If the Gamecocks will have success that will bring them a postseason berth, they know that they will have to rely on their running game and defense. And that’s exactly what they did over the weekend, when they defeated the Kentucky Wildcats at home, 24-7. The Gamecocks have already lost Jake Bentley for the season due to a foot ailment, and against the Wildcats, South Carolina held Kentucky down to only 97 passing yards and 115 rushing yards, while forcing two turnovers. Georgia’s offense is multiple times harder to slow down than that of Kentucky’s but at least the Gamecocks will not be unfazed by the quality of their opponents having squared off with the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier this season, albeit in a 47-23 home loss. South Carolina is averaging 20.2 points per game and is allowing 28.0 per contest.

The Gamecocks are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games, while the under is 2-0 in their last two overall.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference)

The Bulldogs remain undefeated after taking care of business in Knoxville last Saturday, taking down the Tennessee Volunteers, 43-14. The Bulldogs started slow, which allowed Tennessee to have some false sense of belief that it could actually beat Georgia, but they got going later on and never looked back. Bulldogs quarterback Jame Fromm went 24 for 29 for 288 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception, while Bruan Herrien and D’Andre Swift had 88 and 72 rushing yards, respectively, and combined for two rushing scores. Fromm should continue this kind of distribution, thanks in large part to the Bulldogs’ excellent offensive line that has allowed just a sack so far this season. Fromm has 1,078 passing yards and eight touchdowns with zero picks thrown this year, and he should be able to let the ball fly against South Carolina’s defense that is giving up nearly 270 passing yards per game. The Bulldogs are also tough defensively, ranking fifth nationally with only 9.2 points allowed per contest.

The Bulldogs have seen the total go under in their last two home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Georgia wins, 37-21.
