1. Duke Blue Devils

[sc:NCAAB240banner ]Duke may have had their five-game winning streak snapped by Syracuse at the Carrier Dome February 1, but a closely contested two-point loss ensured that the Blue Devils still covered the four-point spread against the top ranked team in the nation.

The Devils bounced back from that defeat with back-to-back 20 point blowouts over Wake Forest and Boston College to go a perfect 7-0 ATS in its last seven.

2. Southern Methodist Mustangs

LarryBrownSMU

Larry Brown’s SMU has had a lot of firsts in the past few weeks. They were the first team to lose to UCF, the last-placed team in the American Athletic Conference. They followed that by being the first team to beat first-place Cincinnati in a 21-point demolition a week ago. And now they’re ranked in the Top 25 for the first time since 1984-85 – nearly 30 years ago.

3. Virginia Cavaliers

The ACC’s surprise team of the year continues to impress. Virginia’s defeat at Cameron Indoor remains its lone blemish in conference play, as the Cavaliers have reeled off eight straight wins to take control of 2nd place in the conference.

They have a tremendous opportunity to extend their streak to double-digits this week. They face Clemson and Virginia Tech, two teams currently on losing streaks.

4. Connecticut Huskies

Connecticut couldn’t take down top 10-ranked Cincinnati, but they gave the conference leaders of the very competitive AAC all they could handle. Though the Huskies lost by five, they still covered the six-point spread, making them 5-0 ATS in their last five games.

5. Georgetown Hoyas

After a disastrous start to conference play, Georgetown has rebounded in a strong way this month. The Hoyas have won four consecutive games, beginning with their big victory against Michigan State in Madison Square Garden.

Georgetown also kept it close against their conference-leading rivals Villanova. Their cover in that game kick-started their current 5-0 streak ATS.
