The Iowa Hawkeyes (+4000 to win the national title) clobbered the Maryland Terrapins (+2000) earlier this month, but the Terps appear to have gotten better since. Will the Hawkeyes show their mastery of Maryland again? Or will the Hawkeyes get their revenge?

Betting on the Iowa Hawkeyes (15-5 Overall / 6-3 Conference)
The Hawkeyes hit another bullseye last Monday, as they defeated the Wisconsin Badgers at home, 68-62, to extend their winning streak to five games. The Hawkeyes are 11th in the nation with 79.5 points per game, and their focal point on that end of the court is center Luka Garza, who paces the team with 23.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He is also the team’s best defender in the paint and at the rim with 1.7 blocks per game. Garza was all that in Iowa’s Jan. 10’s 67-49 home win against the Terps in which he had 21 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in 35 minutes of action. But he also got plenty of help from guard Joe Wieskamp, who led the Hawkeyes in that game with 26 points to go with five 3-pointers and four steals in 39 minutes. That 1-2 punch of Garza and Wieskamp will be front and center when Iowa takes on the Terps in a rematch this Thursday.
The Hawkeyes are 8-2 straight-up (SU) and 6-2-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games.
Betting on the Maryland Terrapins (16-4 Overall / 6-3 Conference)
The things that led Maryland to a 77-76 win over the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington last Sunday are ones the Terps need to show up again with when it meets Iowa again. The Terps moved the ball and kept the defense of Indiana on its toes throughout the contest, making 14 assists in the process. They also found their mark from the outside, knocking down 12 3-pointers on 29 attempts from deep. Sophomore forward Jalen Smith is in the zone right now. After scoring 25 points and getting 11 rebounds in the win on the road over the Northwestern Wildcats, he topped that performance in the next game, racking up 29 points and grabbing 11 boards with two blocks to boot in the Indiana game. Smith is averaging 15.2 points per game this season, but over the last five, he’s put up 20.6. With his confidence peaking right now, he seems to be capable of outplaying Garza. Smith had 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocks in the first meeting with Iowa.
The Terps are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Maryland wins, 73-71.
