Betting on the Maryland Terrapins (ODDS)
Record: 20-9 Overall/11-7 Conference
Maryland is on a two-game win streak. After beating the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Feb. 22 at home, 88-70, the Terrapins defeated the Northwestern Wildcats, also at home, last Sunday, to the tune of a 75-59 score. Maryland has all the momentum it can use to beat the Buckeyes. Apart from their recent wins, the Terps also defeated Ohio State last January in College Park, 80-73, with Jahmir Young exploding for 30 points in that game.
Maryland, which is 21st in the nation with just 62.8 points allowed per game, is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 outings.
Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (ODDS)
Record: 12-17 Overall/4-14 Conference
Ohio State finally stopped its nine-game losing skid when it beat the Illinois Fighting Illini at home last Sunday, 72-60. That win gave the Buckeyes’ chances to make it to the NCAA tournament as an at-large berth team a shot in the arm, but they still need to win out to further increase their odds. Maryland presents a fantastic opportunity to do just that for the Buckeyes, who are averaging 72.9 points per game. In the first meeting with Maryland, the Buckeyes went 9/19 from deep and got 43 points combined from Brice Sensabaugh and Justice Sueing.
The Under is 6-4 in Ohio State’s last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
Ohio State wins, 69-66.
