The No. 18 LSU Tigers are on top of the field in the Southeastern Conference, but it can’t be too confident that will continue until the end of conference play, as teams like the No. 11 Auburn Tigers are hot on their tails. LSU and Auburn are +7000 and +2800 to win the national title, respectively.

Betting on the LSU Tigers (17-4 Overall / 8-0 Conference)
LSU is coasting in SEC play. In all likelihood, it will meet Auburn this weekend still without a conference loss this season, as LSU should be able to take care of business against the lowly Vanderbilt Commodores, who’s not had a win in 26 SEC games. In LSU’s most recent outing prior outing, as of this writing, it defeated the Ole Miss Rebels in Baton Rouge last Saturday, 83-73. LSU’s offense has been among the best in college basketball, and it is using it to flummox opponents, for the most part, this season. LSU is eighth in the nation with 79.8 points per game and 13th with a 48.0 field goal shooting percentage. LSU manages the game’s pace with its great rebounding, as it averages over 40 rebounds per game. In addition, it is seventh nationally in offensive rebounding percentage and sixth in adjusted offensive efficiency, scoring 117.3 points per 100 possessions.
LSU is 3-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last five games against Auburn.
Betting on the Auburn Tigers (19-2 Overall / 6-2 Conference)
Auburn knows a thing or two about scoring well. Bruce Pearl’s team even has averaged 79.5 points over their last four games, albeit including an 83-82 win in double overtime against the Rebels on the road last week. That was followed by a 75-66 win at home over the No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats in which Auburn shot just 35.3 percent from the field but found other outlets to get their point — mostly from the free-throw line. Auburn went 33 of 44 from the charity stripe. Auburn play aggressive on offense and always get a ton of freebies. It is third in the nation in drawing fouls (21.4 per game) and second in free-throw attempts (26.7 per game) in the nation. Samir Doughty, who leads Auburn with 15.1 points per game, had 23 points and went 14 of 15 from the foul line against Kentucky. Auburn is also statistically a better rebounding team than LSU. Auburn is eighth in the nation with 41.2 boards per game.
Auburn is 3-1 ATS in its last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Auburn wins, 77-74.
