Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-1.5)

Yes, it was against the Chicago Bears, but the Colts did look like they have the best defenses in football when they scored a 19-11 win at Soldier Field in Week 4. Indianapolis limited the Bears to only 269 total yards and allowed them to convert just four times on 14 third-down situations. Colts safety Julian Blackmon had a great performance in that game, as he recorded an interception and broke three passes. The biggest challenge for that Colts’ defense is about to come in the form of the Browns this weekend, but they should be ready for the challenge. Adding defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and cornerback Xavier Rhodes over the offseason, the Colts have the tools to slow down Baker Mayfield and company. On the season, the Colts are allowing just 14.0 points per game, the best in the NFL. They’re surrendering only 77.0 rushing yards (4th) and 159.1 passing yards (1st) per game.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+1.5)

If the Colts’ calling card to success this season is their defense, it’s the opposite for the Browns, who whipped the Dallas Cowboys in a 49-38 win in Arlington last Sunday. The Cowboys have a horrible defense, but putting up close to 50 points definitely had a lot to do with the improved playcalling, talent, and chemistry on Cleveland’s offense that’s now fourth in the NFL with an average of 31.0 points per game. Mayfield went 19-of-30 for 165 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Odell Beckham Jr. had 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns on five receptions. The field gets stretched for Beckham thanks in large part to the high level of talent around him. Even though the Browns will miss running back Nick Chubb for multiple games, they still have Kareem Hunt, who had two rushing scores against Dallas. With Hunt running behind a sturdy and smart offensive line, the Browns can still continue flashing signs of why they are the best rushing team in the league. The Browns are averaging 204.4 rushing yards per game.
