Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (odds)

Record: 4-0 Overall / 4-0 Conference

The Buckeyes got tested by the Indiana Hoosiers in their last game, but Ohio State was still too much to handle for Michael Penix Jr. and company. Ohio State scored a 42-35 win over Indiana at home, despite Justin Fields throwing away three interceptions. It was not a memorable day in terms of individual performance for Fields, who still managed to pass for 300 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-30 completions. Instead, it was a day to remember for Master Teague and the Buckeyes’ ground attack, which had 307 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 50 carries. Ohio State has now rushed for over 200 yards in their first four games of the season. Defensively, Ohio State can come away with extra possessions against Michigan State, which is so prone to turnovers. The Spartans have committed 15 turnovers this season and eight over their last three games.

The over is 2-0 in Ohio State’s last two games overall.

Betting on the Michigan State Spartans (odds)

Record: 2-3 Overall / 2-3 Conference

The Spartans got a morale-boosting 29-20 win over the Northwestern Wildcats last Saturday at home, with Michigan State’s defense stepping up. The Spartans had two interceptions and forced two lost fumbles by Northwestern. Junior cornerback Shakur Brown had both of those interceptions, and he’ll be prowling for more picks against Justin Fields, who’s coming off a shaky performance against Indiana. The Spartans’ run defense has been air-tight of late. Michigan State made Indiana collect a minus-one rushing yard two weeks ago then allowed just 63 rushing yards on 37 carries to Northwestern. That should send a warning to Ohio State’s rushing attack. Michigan State is allowing just 3.9 rushing yards per carry, so far this season.

The Spartans, who don’t have to travel for the Ohio State game, have seen the total hit the under in six of their last 10 contests at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Ohio State wins, 45-21.
