Betting on the Drake Bulldogs (-12.5)

If you haven’t been paying much attention to teams outside of the Power Six conferences (and the Gonzaga Bulldogs), then you probably aren’t aware that Drake is still undefeated. The Bulldogs have started the season with 17 wins in a row. Their most recent victims were the Illinois State Redbirdslast Monday to the tune of a lopsided 95-6 0score. Drake’s offense has simply been dominant this season in the Missouri Valley Conference, where the Bulldogs are No. 1 overall in scoring with 79.0 points per game and second in field goal percentage (48.5). At the same time, Drake’s stingy defense is limiting conference opponents to just 63.6 points per game on a 40.8 field goal shooting percentage. Although not a great 3-point shooting team, Drake went nuts from deep in the Illinois State game, drilling 13 threes on 31 3-point attempts.
Drake is 9-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Valparaiso Crusaders (+12.5)
Record: 6-11 Overall / 3-5 Conference
Valparaiso is looking to make a return in the win column after back-to-back road losses to the Evansville Purple Aces. The Crusaders’ defense was largely the culprit in those losses, as they allowed the Purple Aces to shoot 52.0 percent from the field in those meetings. Donovan Clay Valpo in the second meeting with Evansville, scoring 14 points to go with three rebounds and a block. He didn’t get much help from his teammates, though, as no other Crusader scored more than nine points. Eron Gordon started and played 31 minutes but mustered just a grand total of zero points on 0-of-2 shooting, while Ben Kirke went 3 of 6 for six points. Kirke leads Valpo this season with 12.4 points per game, so he’s expected to perform better in the Drake game. Valparaiso, which is averaging 64.3 points per game, has seen the total go over in three of its last four contests as the home team
