USC has yet to be tested in this NCAA Tournament. The Trojans blew out the Drake Bulldogs in the first round by 16 points, crushed the Kansas Jayhawks in the second round by 34, and clobbered the Oregon Ducks in the Sweet 16 round by 14. With that, it’s no surprise that USC has covered the spread in all of their three games so far in the Big Dance. The Mobley brothers have been sensational for the Trojans. Evan Mobley, a virtual lock to be a lottery pick in this year’s NBA Draft, has been a force in the middle on both ends of the floor, while Isaiah Mobley’s offense continues to shine. The 7-footer Evan has the skills of an NBA unicorn, while Isaiah commands attention with his combination of size (6-10) and range (44.4 3FG%). The Trojans also have an experienced guard in senior Tahj Eaddy, who just had 20 points with three 3-pointers in the win over Oregon. Those three can be a handful for Gonzaga, which will be dealing with USC’s offense that has shot 50 percent or better from the field in each of the team’s last three games.
The under is 5-4-1 in USC’s last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (-9)
Record: 29-0 Overall / 15-0 Conference
Gonzaga is just three wins away from a perfect championship season. The Bulldogs smothered Creighton Bluejays in the Sweet Sixteen on Sunday and walked away with an 83-65 win. Gonzaga shot 59.6 percent from the field against a Creighton team that was supposed to give the Bulldogs a bigger defensive challenge. If anything, that just further proves that Gonzaga’s offense is unstoppable. The Trojans have an elite defense, but Gonzaga’s offense has repeatedly shown it has the ability to swallow defenses alive. Gonzaga has had wins over the likes of the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Virginia Cavaliers and even shrugged off the rough tactics of the Oklahoma Sooners in the second round. So far this season, Gonzaga is averaging 92.1 points per game on 54.9 percent shooting from the field.
Gonzaga is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Gonzaga wins, 80-70.
