Betting on the Phoenix Suns (odds)
Regular Season Record: 41-16
The Suns did not waste much time in returning to their winning ways, as they bounced back from a loss at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks on the road last Monday via overtime, 128-127. Phoenix leaned on their efficient offense to take the Bucks, shooting 48.1 percent from the field, 40.5 percent from deep, and 90 percent from the free-throw line. The Suns are averaging 114.7 points this season, which is sixth-best in the NBA. They are also fourth overall with an effective field goal percentage of 56.3. The Suns defeated Philadelphia at home last February, 120-111, using the same formula they had in the Bucks game. In that win, the Suns shot 60.8 percent from the field, 40 percent from long distance, and 82.4 percent from the charity stripe.
The Suns are 3-0 against the spread in their last three games against Philadelphia.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 39-18
The Sixers did not know what hit them during a 107-96 loss at home to the Golden State Warriors on Monday. But of course, what hit them was Stephen Curry, who has been unstoppable of late. The Sixers have an unstoppable force themselves, though, and that comes in the form of MVP contender Joel Embiid. The Cameroonian big man carved up the Suns’ defense in the initial meeting, scoring 35 points to go with eight rebounds in 36 minutes. Philly was simply beaten on offense by Phoenix, as the Sixers only had seven threes in that game to 10 by Phoenix. But the Sixers also need to tighten up their interior defense, as they were minus-16 in paint points in the loss to Philly. The Sixers have won seven of their last 10 games while averaging 109.1 points on 45.2 percent shooting during that span.
The under is 3-1 in the Sixers’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Sixers win, 115-113.
