Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-3.5)

Regular Season Record: 2-0

Jacob Eason may have just won the starting gig for the Colts in case Carson Wentz will not be able to give it a go just in time for Week 1 regular season. Eason went 16 of 27 for 132 passing yards in the Colts’ 12-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 2 of the preseason. Meanwhile, former Texas Longhorns star Sam Ehlinger struggled in the pocket with 70 passing yards and two interceptions on 8-of-13 pass completions. One of his picks was also taken to the house for a touchdown by Minnesota’s defense. If anything, Colts’ offense had its quarterbacks protected well, as neither Eason nor Ehlinger was sacked by the Vikings.

The Colts are 6-3-1 against the spread in their last 10 preseason games.

Bet on the Indianapolis Colts

Betting on the Detroit Lions (+3.5)

Regular Season Record: 0-2

The Lions are still winless after two games in the preseason. In Week 1, they lost to the Buffalo Bills at home, 16-15, then to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in Week 2, 26-20. But at least their offense showed more signs of life in the Steelers game. And they did that despite missing key players like Jared Goff, TJ Hockenson, and their top two running backs in RBs D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams. David Blough went 12 of 17 for 143 passing yards and a touchdown, while the ground attack had two touchdowns. However, Detroit was only 2 of 9 on third downs. The story could be much different next week, though, if Goff and some of the other starters will play significant snaps against the Colts, who turned the ball over twice in Week 2.

The over is 4-1 in the Lions’ last five preseason games.

Bet on the Detroit Lions

Writer’s Prediction

The Lions win, 17-14.
