Betting on the Chicago Bears (+5)

Regular Season Record: 2-2

A week after getting blown out in a 26-6 road loss to the Cleveland Browns, Justin Fields and the Bears recovered from it by scoring a 24-14 win over the Detroit Lions last Sunday. Running back David Montgomery carried the Bears on his back and rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. The bad news for the Bears is that Montgomery hurt his knee in that game and will likely be out for the meeting with the Raiders. That means added pressure for Justin Fields to deliver. Fields had 209 passing yards and an interception with zero touchdowns on 11/17 completions against the Lions, but that was a marked improvement from the forgettable performance he showed in the Browns game. But it could be the Bears’ defense that could be the biggest factor for Chicago against Las Vegas. The Bears, who lead the NFL this season with 15 sacks, could add a lot more to that total when they face Las Vegas’ o-line that has allowed 12 sacks — the fifth-most in the league, so far this season.

The under is 4-1 in the Bears’ last five games.

Bet on the Chicago Bears

Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (-5)

Regular Season Record: 3-1

The Raiders suffered their first loss of the season in a 28-14 Monday Night Football loss on the road to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. Las Vegas’ defense allowed the Chargers to zoom to a 21-0 lead at the half. The offense woke up in the second half, where the Raiders outscored the Chargers, 14-7, but the comeback attempt fell short. Justin Herbert had his way against Las Vegas’ defense, but the Raiders’ stop unit should be good enough to at least slow down Chicago’s offense that’s nowhere near as good as Los Angeles’. The Raiders are still ninth in the league with 26.0 points per game and fifth with 406.5 total yards per contest. They don’t make lots of turnovers, only averaging 0.8 giveaways per game. This is still a team that clearly can give Chicago lots of headaches on both ends of the field. Like the Raiders, the Bears also have a fault pass protection, as Chicago has allowed 16 sacks. With Montgomery out, Chicago’s attack could be an easier one to ready for Las Vegas.

The over is 5-0 in the Raiders’ last five games after a loss.

Writer’s Prediction

The Raiders win, 23-17.
