Regular Season Record: 1-4
Rookie running back Dameon Pierce is starting to get the hang of playing in the NFL. Pierce had 99 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries against the Jaguars. Before that, he racked up a career-high 131 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in a home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. His emergence as a legitimate weapon for Houston’s attack could turn things around for the Texans, who are averaging just 17.2 points per game and allowing 19.8 points per outing, so far in the 2022 NFL regular season.
The Texans are 6-3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (+10.0)
Regular Season Record: 1-4
The Raiders have had an extra week to marinate themselves in the painful loss to the Chiefs. Las Vegas was so close to scoring an upset over Patrick Mahomes and company, but Kansas City proved to be way harder to slay for the Raiders, who are eighth in the NFL with 25.0 points per game. Derek Carr went 19/30 for 241 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception against the Chiefs while running back Josh Jacobs cooked all night with 154 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Carr and Jacobs can vent all their frustrations on Houston, which has only won three times in its last 10 games on the road. Moreover, Houston is just 5-15 straight up in its last 20 games away from home.
The Raiders are 2-0 against the spread in their last two games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Raiders win, 30-17.
