The legend of Justin Herbert continues to grow. Herbert threw for 398 passing yards and four touchdowns without an interception on 26/43 completions in Week 5’s 47-42 win at home over the Cleveland Browns. Herbert has been sensational in leading the Chargers’ offense that is currently sixth in the NFL with 28.4 points per game and seventh with 411.4 total yards per contest. They surely have the offense to keep up with whatever Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have in store for them this coming weekend. That couldn’t have been any clearer than when they outscored a Browns team that threw everything at LA but the kitchen sink last Sunday. Baltimore hasn’t been stout defensively against the pass, so Herbert will look to expose that chink in the Ravens’ armor.
The Chargers are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games overall. They are also 4-0 against the spread in their last four on the road.
Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-3)
Regular Season Record: 4-1
The Indianapolis Colts tried their best, but they just did not bury the Ravens deep enough to avoid getting victimized by Lamar Jackson. The dual-threat quarterback led the Ravens to a 31-25 come-from-behind win at home over the Colts in Week 5, with Jackson passing for 442 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions on 37/43 completions. He also led the team with 62 rushing yards on 14 carries. Jackson has repeatedly shown that he can be all it takes for Baltimore to win. He’s elusive on the ground and has improved on his passing. The Chargers will have their hands full with Jackson, who might run a little bit more than last time. For one, he’ll be facing the Chargers’ defense that is last in the NFL with 157.6 rushing yards allowed per game.
The Ravens are 5-1 against the spread against a team with an above .500 record.
Writer’s Prediction
The Chargers win, 30-27.
