The New England Patriots have a two-game win streak going for them, and they would love to see that get extended to three when they take on the Carolina Panthers on the road. The Panthers might not have Sam Darnold in Week 9, but they’re getting a key weapon back. Check out our preview of this game below.

Betting on the New England Patriots (-3)
Regular Season Record: 4-4
Finally, the Patriots beat a quality team. They defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9 on the road to the tune of a 27-24 score. Prior to that, the Pats only had wins against the New York Jets (twice) and the Houston Texans. The victory over the Chargers sort of legitimizes New England as a team to watch out for. New England beat the Chargers with defense. Safety Adrian Phillips came away with two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and as a team, the Pats had three sacks. The Pats will be dealing with a lesser offense in Week 9 in the form of the Panthers’ attack that has scored just 22 points in Carolina’s last two games. New England just passed the test given to them by the high-flying Chargers’ offense. The Pats should be able to get things done defensively against the Panthers.
The under is 6-4 in the Patriots’ last 10 games away from home.
Betting on the Carolina Panthers (+3)
Regular Season Record: 4-4
The Panthers have finally stopped the bleeding, with a 19-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 9. That’s Carolina’s first win in five weeks, and one that came at a price, apparently. The Panthers might not have quarterback Sam Darnold for at least Week 9’s meeting with New England because of a concussion suffered in the Falcons game. Should Darnold get ruled out of Week 9, the Panthers will get the starting duties to backup PJ Walker. Help could also be on the way for the Panthers, as star running back Christian McCaffrey is reportedly gearing for a return after missing weeks with a hamstring problem. He will be a great boost to Carolina’s offense that hasn’t been quite right without him. Defensively, the Atlanta game was a great start for Stephon Gilmore’s career in Carolina, as he helped neutralize rookie tight end Kyle Pitts.
The under is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Patriots win, 23-20.
