Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (odds)

Record: 11-8 Overall/5-4 Conference

Hunter Dickinson and Eli Brooks teamed up to deliver the Wolverines to an 85-79 home win last Tuesday over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The 7-1 Dickinson erupted for 26 points in that game, while the 6-1 Brooks pitched in 20 points. Dickinson is one of the best big men in the nation, and he’ll be an important weapon for the Wolverines against the frontcourt of Purdue. On the season, Dickinson is averaging 17.5 points on 59.5 percent shooting from the field. He is flanked in the frontcourt by the 6-11 Moussa Diabate, who’s not scoring a lot, but is helping Michigan’s offense with his rebounding. Diabate is 45th in the nation in terms of offensive rebound rate. Speaking of offense, the Wolverines are second in the Big Ten with 110.8 points per 100 possessions.

The Over is 8-2 in Michigan’s last 10 games overall.

Betting on the Purdue Boilermakers (odds)

Record: 19-3 Overall/8-3 Conference

Purdue maintained its momentum in Big Ten play, as the Boilermakers extended their win streak to four games with an 88-73 victory on the road against the Minnesota Golden Gophers last Wednesday. Jaden Ivey led the Boilermakers with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Eric Hunter Jr. provided 20 points. Purdue had its way offensively in that game, as it shot 55.6 percent from the field and hit 12 threes on 24 attempts. The Boilermakers also dominated the glass, 39-23. That kind of well-rounded performance isn’t new to those who’ve been watching the Boilermakers. Purdue is the owner of the No. 1 adjusted offensive efficiency in the nation with 125.7 points per 100 possessions, second in 3-point shooting accuracy, and seventh in offensive rebound rate. The Boilermakers have the tools to neutralize Michigan.

Purdue is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games as the home team.

Writer’s Prediction

Purdue wins, 80-70.
