The Rangers have a lot of catching up to do in the race in the American League West division, as they are 17.5 games behind group leader Houston Astros. On the mound for the Rangers in this coming Thursday’s game will be Jon Gray, who is 6-4 with a 3.71 ERA and 1.13 WHIP so far this season. Over his last two starts, Gray has allowed just 3 earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 17 hitters across two games – both ending in wins for the Rangers. Corey Seager and Nathaniel Lowe headline the run support system of the Rangers after hitting .251 and .2270 in the first half, respectively, while combining for 35 home runs and 90 RBIs. Looking to help the Marlins snap out of their slump will be 26-year-old right Pablo Lopez, who enters this game with a 6-4 record and a 2.86 ERA. He also owns a 1.07 WHIP along with 101 total strikeouts to date this year. Lopez an be viewed as a very reliable asset for the Marlins, especially after leading the team to three wins in his last three starts. Over that stretch, Lopez has allowed just four earned runs across 16.1 innings. Garrett Cooper and Jorge Soler headline the run support system of the Marlins after posting a .783 OPS and .706 OPS in the first half, respectively, while combining for 20 home runs and 74 RBIs.
