Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+2)

Regular Season Record: 0-0

The Browns were supposed to have Deshaun Watson making his debut for his team in this Week 1 game, but that’s not what’s going to happen, with the quarterback suspended for six games. Instead will be Jacoby Brissett who will be taking over the starting QB role for the Browns for now, and while he’s not a flashy name, he has proven himself to be solid enough to be around the league for six seasons and counting. Brissett played 11 games with the Dolphins last year and had 1,283 passing yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions, but he’ll be surrounded with more talent now, including running back Nick Chubb, arguably the best tailback in the entire NFL. They also have now wide receiver Amari Cooper on the offense that averaged 20.5 points per game in 2021.

The Under is 4-0 in the Browns’ last 4 four overall.

Betting on the Carolina Panthers (-2)

Regular Season Record: 0-0

It’s the Baker Mayfield Show now in Carolina. After winning his quarterback battle against Sam Darnold, Mayfield will be the starting quarterback for the Panthers, and he’ll have every motivation he needs to punish his former team. But more than that, the Panthers must be happy to see running back Christian McCaffrey healthy to start the season. McCaffrey is still among the best offensive weapons in the NFL, and he could go off against Cleveland’s defense which was just 28th in the NFL in 2021 in terms of defensive red-zone touchdown rate. Carolina’s defense should also be loving the fact that instead of Watson, it would be dealing with a Browns quarterback notches below the beleaguered signal-caller’s level. Last season, the Panthers were 10th in the NFL with a 7.04 percent sack rate on defense and third against the pass with just 192.1 passing yards allowed per contest.

The Over is 6-2 in the Panthers’ last eight games overall.
