Betting on the Washington Commanders (+10.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-5
The Commanders saw their three-game win streak end last Sunday, as theyt lost to the Minnesota Vikings at home, 20-17. That said, Washington was able to cover the spread. With that, the Commanders are now 4-4-1 against the spread, so far this season. They will be heading into the rematch against Philadelphia with a 2-2 record against the spread as the road team. In the first meeting with Philly, the Commanders still had Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback. This time around, they will be commandeered from under center by Taylor Heinicke who’s done a much more admirable job at moving the chains and helping Washington put points on the board. He’s far from perfect but Heinicke has five touchdowns against three interceptions in three appearances this season. Heinicke is also a more mobile option than Wentz, who got swallowed alive in the pocket by Philly’s pass rush the first time these teams met on the field this season.
The Under is 4-0 in the Commanders’ last four games against NFC East division teams.
Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-10.5)
Regular Season Record: 8-0
The Eagles are still undefeated after thwarting the Houston Texans in Week 9 on the road, 29-17. That was a Thursday Night Football matchup, which means that Philly has a longer rest than Washington by the time these teams’ rematch happens in Week 10. Against the Texans, Jalen Hurts did not have to sweat a lot, passing for 243 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. Hurts had an easier time in the win over Washington in which he passed for 340 yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 22/35 completions. On the season, Hurts has 2,042 passing yards and 12 passing touchdowns with only two interceptions. It doesn’t take much figuring why the Eagles are the favorite to defeat Washington, which is just 26th in the leaugue in scoring offense and 16th in scoring defense. Meanwhile, the Eagles are second overall with 28.1 points per game and fourth with 16.9 points allowed per contest.
The Eagles are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 27-17.
