TV Broadcast: FOX
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 6-1
The Vikings are pretty hard to stop when their top three guys are rolling. Cousins passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions against the Cardinals, while Dalvin Cook rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson had 98 receiving yards on six catches and eight targets. Any of those three could explode in any given contest, especially Cook and Jefferson, who are always nightmare matchups. Minnesota can have a bigger performance in Week 9 with the rusts of Week 7 bye completely off of them by Sunday.
The Over is 4-1 in the Vikings’ last five games overall.
Betting on the Washington Commanders (+3.5)
Regular Season Record:4-4
There is something in Taylor Heinicke that is making the Commanders survive games. Whatever it is, the Commanders need more of it as they go up on Sunday against one of the better teams in the league. Washington has not lost in Heinicke’s starts so far this season. While Heinicke has not really been impressive, he is inspiring the Commanders, and sometimes, that’s all that matters. As for the team’s talent, Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson can be problems for Minnesota’s defense which might not have star DT Dalvin Tomlinson on the field in Week 9 after he suffered an injury last Sunday.
The Commanders are 15-6 against the spread in their last 21 games after a win.
Writer’s Prediction
The Vikings win, 24-21.
