Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+5.5)

Regular Season Record: 5-7

Despite a rusty performance by the comebacking Deshaun Watson, the Browns still pulled off a 27-14 road win against the Houston Texans in Week 13. Watson, playing in his first NFL game since 2020, went just 12/22 for 131 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception. Fortunately for Cleveland, it has a reliable backfield to pick things up on offense, as the Browns rushed for 174 yards on 38 carries. Assuming Watson will be better in Week 14 after acclimating again to live NFL action, the Browns’ attack should be deadlier. Or perhaps the Browns will dominate Cincinnati again on the ground. In the first meeting with the Bengals, Cleveland racked up 172 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 44 carries, while Amari Cooper exploded as well downfield with 131 receiving yards and a TD on five receptions/7 targets.

The Over is 6-2-1 in the Browns’ last nine games against AFC teams.

Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (-5.5)

Regular Season Record: 8-4

There’s nothing that will stop the Bengals from feeling good after their successful takedown of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at home last Sunday, 27-24. With Ja’Marr Chase returning to action and Samaje Perine still proven that he can be effective as Joe Mixon’s placeholder, the Bengals outgunned the Chiefs, which is speaking a lot about the capabilities of Cincy’s attack. In his first game back from a hip injury, Chase led Cincinnati with 97 receiving yards on seven catches, while Perine had a total of 155 rushing plus receiving yards versus the Chiefs. Mixon seems to have a shot at returning in Week 14. Chase is a game-changer, and since he missed the first Browns game, the Bengals will be a much bigger threat to Cleveland, with or without Mixon.

The Bengals are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games.
