Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Miami Heat (+2.5) at San Antonio Spurs (-2.5); total: 209.0
Betting on the Miami Heat
[sc:NBA240banner ]Miami Heat finally had their eight-game winning streak snapped in a 106-103 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. After scoring a career-high 61 points against the Bobcats on Monday, LeBron James had just 22 points against the Rockets and was held scoreless in the 4th quarter.
With James struggling, the Heat got 24 points from Michael Beasley and Dwyane Wade, the latter of whom has now scored 23 or more points in five straight games. With a day off yesterday, the Heat should be ready for their Finals rematch with the Spurs tonight. Miami is 22-8 SU this season with one day’s rest.
Betting on the San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have now won four in a row after Tuesday’s 21-point demolition of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Danny Green torched his former team for 24 points, while Kawhi Leonard chipped in with 18. The Spurs are 7-1 SU in their last eight games overall and have won four straight at home.
San Antonio is firing on all cylinders on offense. They hung 120 points on the Cavs with help from a season-high 39 assists, and have topped 110 points in five of their last seven games. Their high-scoring nature has caused the total to go OVER in eight of their last 10 games.
Prediction
The Heat (18-8 SU vs. teams above .500) get up for the big games, while the Spurs (20-14 SU vs. teams above .500) don’t. With Wade back, look for Miami to come out of San Antonio victorious and (obviously) having covered 2.5.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Phoenix Suns (9:00 PM ET)
Line: Oklahoma City Thunder (-6.5) at Phoenix Suns (+6.5); total: 217.5
Betting on the Oklahoma City Thunder
After a six-game home stand, the Thunder go back on the road against the Suns tonight. Oklahoma City is 6-0 SU and ATS in its last six visits to Phoenix and 8-2 SU in its last 10 road games overall.
OKC uncharacteristically dropped the first three games of its home stand to the Heat, Clippers and Cavs, but bounced back with three straight wins against the Grizzlies, Bobcats and Sixers. Kevin Durant notched his tenth game of the season with 40 or more points against the Sixers and Russell Westbrook delivered a 21-minute triple-double.
Betting on the Phoenix Suns
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the Suns. Phoenix has dropped four of its last six games, including three at home against the Rockets, Wolves and most recently the Clippers.
With Goran Dragic leading the offense, the Suns have had no problems scoring, but they are having trouble keeping the opposition below 100 points. Phoenix’s last six opponents have averaged 110 points per game. The Suns will also be without starting center Miles Plumlee (sprained knee) and Leandro Barbosa (fractured hand) for this game.
Prediction
The struggling Suns won’t be able to contain the Thunder’s exceptional offense as OKC will put up at least 115 while covering -6.5 and extending its winning streak to four games.
