Line: Los Angeles Dodgers (+108) vs. Detroit Tigers (-118); total 8.5 – view all MLB lines
The Dodgers travel to Detroit to take on the Tigers in a meeting of division leaders. The Dodgers are riding a surge of momentum, going 7-3 in their last ten road games. They are also 9-1 when facing AL teams on the road. The Tigers on the other hand are currently on a tailspin losing their last three games to the Tampa Bay Rays.
[sc:MLB240banner ]The Dodgers will look to pounce on the Tigers’ misfortune but they will have to deal with Tigers star pitcher Justin Verlander (7-7, 4.71 ERA). Verlander has pitched six-plus innings in his last three starts allowing three or less runs in all of those outings. Verlander will take on the challenge of Dodgers ace Hyun-Jin Ryu (9-4, 3.08 ERA). The Korean right-hander has gone six-plus innings in his last nine starts surrendering four or less runs in all of those games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Dodgers will continue their hot streak on the road and beat the Tigers in Detroit.
San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics (10:05 PM ET)
Line: San Francisco Giants (+115) vs. Oakland Athletics (-125); total 7.0 – view all MLB lines
The Athletics look set to extend their five-game winning streak when they take on the Giants at O.co Coliseum. The Athletics will showcase their star pitcher Sonny Gray (8-3, 3.08 ERA) who has been impeccable for Oakland this season. He stifled the Blue Jays in his last outing allowing only one run and four hits in seven innings of work.
The Giants will start Madison Bumgarner (9-6, 3.09 ERA) in the second game of this four-game set. He has struggled as of late, losing his last two starts as he allowed nine runs in 11 innings during those two games.
What’s troubling the Giants lately has been their inability to score runs. Before their 5-0 defeat to the Athletics in the series opener, the Giants were shutout in three of their previous seven games. They are ranked 20th in the entire league when it comes to runs scored with 353 and are a lowly 23rd when it comes to batting percentage with a .244 clip.
Writer’s Prediction
The Athletics will pile more misery on the Giants as they sweep their two-game home stand. Create a betting account now and see if you can predict who the victors are in these two important baseball matches.
