Betting on the Yale Bulldogs (3-0)

Yale’s hot start continued on Saturday with a convincing 27-12 victory over Lehigh at Goodman Stadium. Leading the way for the Bulldogs in this contest was Deshawn Salter. The sophomore rushed for 233 yards and two scores on 29 carries in his first career start. The yardage total is the fifth most in a game in Yale history. His performance on Saturday marked the sixth time in the last five years that a Yale player has rushed for over 200 yards.

Prior to their clash with Lehigh, Yale was averaging just 2.7 yards per carry with their ground game. Thanks to Salter’s exploits, the Bulldogs exploded for 278 rushing yards in their last game. They will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Dartmouth defensive line that’s allowing just 77.3 rushing yards per game this season, fourth in the entire FCS.

Yale is 4-1 in its last five games.

Betting on the Dartmouth Big Green (3-0)

Dalyn Williams

Dartmouth remained unbeaten this season with a 41-20 defeat of Penn in the Ivy League opener for both teams Saturday. It was a huge victory for the Big Green who recorded their first win in Philadelphia in almost 20 years.

Leading the way for Dartmouth in this game was Dalyn Williams. He passed for 328 yards in the game against Penn with four touchdowns (two passing and two rushing). He was nearly flawless, completing 23 of 25 passes with a pair of touchdown throws to Victor Williams (213 yards). With that performance, Williams has now posted his fifth career 300-yard passing game. He also hasn’t thrown an interception in his last 180 passes, dating back to last season.

For the Big Green to extend their winning streak this coming weekend, they will need to continue their excellent play on the offensive end. Dartmouth rolled up 498 total yards in their victory against Penn on Saturday. They are 33rd in the FCS in total offense, averaging 423.3 yards per game this season. Dartmouth will fancy its chances of doing just that as it has fared extremely well against Yale in the past. The Big Green have beaten the Bulldogs in their last three meetings. Last season, the Big Green came back from 24-14 down to beat the Bulldogs, 38-31.

Dartmouth is 5-0 in its last five games.

Writer’s Prediction

Dartmouth ekes past Yale, 31-27.
