Line: Chicago Cubs (-170) vs. New York Mets (+150); total: 5.5 – view all MLB lines
Despite coming off a not-so-good start in Game 3 of the NLDS opposite the Cardinals, Jake Arrieta (22-6, 1.77 ERA) still emerged triumphant, 8-6. That win was pretty crucial one as it eventually helped the Cubs to advance to the National League Championship Series.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Arrieta, who hasn’t lost since July 25, will be taking the mound for Game 2 of their series with the Mets. He seems to be right on track for a stellar performance as the 29-year-old righty dominated the reigning NL East champions in the regular season, going 2-0 with a sizzling 1.13 ERA and 17 K’s across two starts.
Speaking of the Mets, they’ll be countering with their rookie in Noah Syndergaard, who is 9-7 with a 3.24 ERA this year. In his lone start versus the Cubs on May 12, he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and delivered six strikeouts in a losing effort. But Syndergaard has been considerably better at Citi Field, owning a 7-2 record with a quality 2.46 ERA, a .82 WHIP and a .196 opponents’ batting average.
Chicago is undefeated in its last 10 road games with Arrieta starting. New York, meanwhile, is 4-3 in Syndergaard’s past seven starts.

New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts (8:30 PM ET)
Line: New England Patriots (-9.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts (+9.5) – view all NFL lines
No one has been able to stop the New England Patriots yet this season. The Pats stretched their unbeaten run to four games after a resounding 30-6 win over the injury-riddled Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Tom Brady provided a stellar outing once again, completing 20 of his 27 passes for 275 yards along with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Brady and company now set their sights on improving to 5-0 for the first time since 2007 when they pay the Andrew Luck-led Indianapolis Colts a visit at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Luck, who has missed the past two weeks due to shoulder problems, is expected to return to the field this evening. The former top overall pick has yet to find his true form this season but will be taking comfort on the fact that his teammates in Andre Johnson and Frank Gore are beginning to make some noise and are bound to be huge factors against New England.
Johnson, the Pro Bowl wideout, is fresh off a solid performance in their 27-20 win at Houston Thursday night, during which he finished with 77 yards on six receptions with two touchdowns. Gore, meanwhile, rushed for 98 yards with one touchdown in the same game.
