Expect the boo birds to make it rain in Dallas later tonight, as almost-a-Maverick DeAndre Jordan arrive at American Airlines Center for a highly anticipated matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and Mark Cuban’s team. The Clippers are coming off a nice one-day rest after escaping the Memphis Grizzlies, while the Dallas Mavericks are aching for a rebound following a thrashing at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Betting on the Los Angeles Clippers (5-2)
[sc:NBA240banner ]Having averted a three-game skid by notching a close 94-92 win against Memphis on Monday, the Clippers are off to Dallas looking to build another winning streak. LA is expected to play in front of a hostile crowd, all asking for DeAndre Jordan’s head, but the Clippers should have the mental advantage, as they’ve beaten Dallas early this season, 104.88.
The Clippers were simply the better team in that game with Blake Griffin leading the attack. Griffin scored 26 points on 11-for-17 shooting from the field, while also adding 10 rebounds. Griffin, who put up 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Memphis game, is leading the team with 28.6 PPG. Griffin should remain a big headache for the Mavs’ frontline that severely lacks a rim protector since parting ways with Tyson Chandler.
Griffin’s frontcourt partner, Jordan, on the other hand, would be another tough customer for Dallas, as the big man collars 13.3 RPG. He plucked down 15 rebounds in the first meeting with the Mavericks. Then there’s Chris Paul, who showed no signs of slowing down after missing a game due to a groin injury (vs. Houston on November 7) by posting 14 points, four assists, and four rebounds in 33 minutes of action against the Grizzlies.
The Clips got 48 points from their bench the last time out against Dallas, albeit most coming during one of the longest garbage times of the young season. That said, relievers Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford remain integral parts of the Clips’ offense that is currently third in the league with 105.4 PPG average.
Los Angeles is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 road games.

Betting on the Dallas Mavericks (3-4)
The last time Dallas faced the Clippers, the Mavs’ started Jeremy Evans, John Jenkins, and Raymond Felton, guys that have little to no business in any team’s first five unit.
It’ll be a different starting five for Dallas, though, tonight, as they now have Chandler Parsons, Wesley Matthews, and Deron Williams taking those places. But if Tuesday’s 120-105 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans was any indication, then Dallas needs more than healthy bodies to avenge its loss to LA. For one, the Mavericks will have to defend better against outside shooters.
New Orleans went berserk beyond the arc, sinking 14 of 33 three-point attempts. In the previous loss to the Clips, Dallas allowed J.J. Redick and company to hit eight triples on 31 tries. The Mavs have a nasty habit of letting opponents loose in the perimeter, as evidenced by the 27.7 three-point attempts they allow per game—second most in the NBA. That must change later tonight for the Mavs, but not without sacrificing their interior defense that allows 42.0 points in the paint per contest.
On offense, Dallas need its stars not named Dirk Nowitzki to go to work. Nowitzki led the team with 18 points against the Pellies, but Parsons, Williams, and Matthews combined for a grand total of 11 points. That won’t cut it for Dallas, which averages 99.0 PPG. Nowitzki paces the team with 17.1 PPG, while Williams is second with 13.0.
Dwight Powell, meanwhile, has been a positive for Dallas, acting as the sparkplug off the Mavs’ bench this season. Powell, who scored 10 points and had six rebounds against New Orleans, is averaging 11.1 PPG and 7.7 RPG.
