San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat (8:00 PM ET)
Line: San Antonio Spurs (-6.5) at Miami Heat (+6.5); total 194.0 – view all NBA lines
After Saturday’s 106-102 home victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, one thing was evident. LaMarcus Aldrige is feeling right at home with the San Antonio Spurs. He scored 26 to average 23.8 points in his last five games. He scored a season-high 36 at home against New Orleans on Wednesday. But Aldrige and the Spurs face a completely different challenge this time around. The Spurs play their first game against Miami tonight on the road. Miami has been solid, playing with the league’s third-best defense (95.9 points per game). Facing a monster like Hassan Whiteside, even if he’s just coming off the bench, is a tough task.
Whiteside has been a monster in his last two games; he finished with a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds) in his last game, Sunday’s 100-93 loss to the Clippers. He also had a monster outing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks in Friday’s 98-95 victory at Charlotte.
Writer’s Prediction
The Heat (+6.5) put the pressure on the Spurs’ scorers en route to an upset victory.
Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors (10:30 PM ET)
Line: Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors – view all NBA lines
It’s going to be an interesting shootout tonight at Oracle Arena. One of the league’s best scorers, Houston’s James Harden attempts to lead his team to hand Golden State’s first home loss this season. Harden is averaging 27.8 points as one of Stephen Curry’s rivals for his first scoring crown. Curry is scoring 29.8 points per game this season.
Harden posted some gaudy numbers in his last trip to Oakland. He averaged 33 points on 58.5 shooting along with 21 total rebounds and 18 assists in the first two games of last year’s Western Conference Finals.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rockets give everything they’ve got against Golden State, but eventually fall short.
