Betting on Manchester City
Manchester City basically have a foot and a half in the 2016 Champions League quarterfinals. The English club took down Dynamo Kiev, 3-1, in the first leg in Ukraine with goals from their stars, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, and David Silva.
Simply put, it’ll take a meltdown of epic proportions for City to squander their commanding lead. City must lost 3-0 or by two clear goals while giving up four or more away goals to crash out. Indeed, their odds of doing so are sky-high; City are priced at a whopping -5,000 to go through.Even if City do give up a goal or two, they’re invariably going to score a couple themselves, especially at home. City have scored 39 goals in 15 home games in the Premier League this season, 10 more than their nearest competitor. Leading scorer Aguero has found the net six times in his last five games at the Etihad.
But even with a very comfortable lead, don’t expect City to play around too much at home. With their chances of winning the league looking increasingly unlikely coupled with the fact that they’ve crashed out of the Round of 16 for three-straight years, they’ve got every motivation to secure passage to the quarters in style.

Betting on Dynamo Kiev
Dynamo Kiev have it all to do in the second leg. Not only must the Ukrainian giants overcome a 3-1 first-leg deficit, they must do so away from home. Although a comeback is not completely mission impossible, Dynamo’s -2,000 odds of going through do indicate that it’s highly improbable.
The usual rust that Russian and Ukrainian clubs face due to their leagues’ months-long winter break must have played at least some part in Dynamo’s sluggish start in the first leg. But with a couple of league games now under their belt, they should be much closer to full match sharpness for the second leg.
It’ll be an uphill task to actually go win in Manchester, but the fact that City don’t need to win to go through should give Dynamo a chance of at least avoiding defeat. Dynamo won two of three away games during the group stage, and kept clean sheets in both win. However, their lone away defeat came on English soil against Chelsea.
Writer’s Prediction
Man City (-220) cruise through to the quarters with a 2-0 home win.
